How to Make Chili Lime Chicken Tacos
1) Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl combine olive oil, Chili Lime seasoning, lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, and cumin. Add chicken and toss to coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 15–20 minutes at room temperature or up to 24 hours in the fridge for deeper flavor.
2) Grill the Chicken
Preheat grill to medium-high heat (400°F / 200°C). Grill chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until cooked through and slightly charred. Internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
3) Slice the Chicken
Slice the rested chicken against the grain into thin strips or bite-sized pieces. Squeeze a little fresh lime juice over the sliced chicken and sprinkle with a pinch of extra Chili Lime seasoning for a bold finishing touch.
4) Build the Tacos
Warm tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side. Layer with sliced chili lime chicken, shredded cabbage, avocado slices, fresh cilantro, and a drizzle of sour cream or chipotle crema. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice and serve immediately.
Other Cooking Methods
Stovetop Skillet
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil. Cook chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until cooked through and slightly charred on the edges. Rest and slice before building tacos.
Air Fryer Chili Lime Chicken Tacos
Air fry at 400°F / 200°C for 14–16 minutes, flipping halfway. The air fryer gives you beautifully caramelized edges on the chicken with minimal oil.
Oven Baked
Bake at 425°F / 220°C for 20–22 minutes until cooked through. Broil for the final 2–3 minutes for extra char and caramelization.
Serving Ideas

Skip the tortillas and serve the chicken over cilantro lime rice with black beans, corn, avocado, and chipotle crema for an incredible taco bowl.
Street Taco Style
Use small corn tortillas doubled up, top with diced white onion, fresh cilantro, and a squeeze of lime for classic Mexican street taco vibes.
Chili Lime Chicken Wrap
Wrap the sliced chicken in a large flour tortilla with cabbage slaw, avocado, and chipotle mayo for a quick and satisfying lunch.
Chili Lime Chicken Salad
Slice the chicken over mixed greens with corn, black beans, cherry tomatoes, and a chili lime vinaigrette for a fresh and bold salad.
Tips for the Best Chili Lime Chicken Tacos
• Use chicken thighs for juicier, more flavorful tacos — they hold up better to bold seasoning than chicken breasts.
- Don't skip the lime zest — it adds intense citrus aroma without making the marinade watery.
- Marinate longer for deeper flavor — overnight in the fridge takes these tacos to the next level.
- Rest before slicing — always let the chicken rest 5 minutes to keep all the juices inside.
- Warm your tortillas — cold tortillas crack and fall apart. Always warm them before building your tacos.
Storage & Reheating
Leftover chili lime chicken keeps in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days — making it perfect for meal prep. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for 2–3 minutes or in a 350°F oven for 8–10 minutes. Store tortillas and toppings separately and assemble fresh for best results.
